Fair. Stuff happens at the last minute. But this isn't an issue of a last minute swap. It's an issue of WestJet showing two very different seat maps for the exact same flight.
Shouldn't the three different WestJet systems that I looked at (check-in, booking, "Flight Guide") all show the same thing for the same flight?
I just checked all three again to see if anything had changed -- whether an update or a correction or a lag in updating the info in different systems. Nope. It's now hours after I first checked in... and it's still the same situation:
- their check-in system shows a "Cabin Transformation" seat map for the flight,
- but booking on WJ.com still shows it's a regular/mainline MAX (and they're still selling tickets using that seat map), and
- and their Flight Guide website shows it's operating on a regular/mainline v1 MAX.
Three separate WestJet systems, two very different answers.
So what happens tomorrow morning?
Option 1: If it ends up being a Cabin Transformation aircraft, there will be some unhappy customers who booked Premium and Extended Comfort (me included) as they discover the downgrade at the gate -- since with less than 24 hours to go, 2 out of 3 sources still say it is
not a Cabin Transformation aircraft flight.
Option 2: If it ends up being a MAX v1 (regular) aircraft, there will undoubtedly be confusion ... because some will have selected or changed seats based on a very different CT seat map (shown in the check-in process) that does not match the operating aircraft.
This isn't a regular, last minute metal change due to IRROPS. This is confusion from WJ about what the metal will actually be. They can't have systems telling customers different things. And if it is actually swapped to a CT aircraft (who know!? I'll find out tomorrow!) there should have been some form of communication. This is just confusing and frustrating.
