No meal after take-off would be rather unfortunate for the reasons other mentioned, but I would like the shift of focus from the first meal to the second meal. Many airlines still do big first meal and light second meal on late overnights, which is crap.
I was recently checking Emirates menus and what they do on early morning departures from DXB to PRG (6hrs or so block time) is serving a light breakfast first, then a full proper lunch service before landing. This is actually more food than when you depart during the day (when it's just one meal service and then snacks on request). Something similar would be fine for these flights - do some snack in the evening and then a proper lunch before landing, rather than having a full dinner at midnight and then crap breakfast before landing.
