A few points from two stays this year (a better one in May and a pretty disappointing one this week):

+ good location in Pudong
+ large rooms, generally good condition of facilities
+ nice pool with a great view
+ Pearl View rooms have a legit good view (same as club lounge/pool)
+ usually pretty good rates
+ Club Lounge is nice enough with pretty good F&B

- service not up to Regent standard, not even up to IC standard imo;- English skills are pretty lacking, there are 1-2 employees with good English but the rest are essentially unable to speak it (understandable if in a Tier 2-3 city or let's say at a Crowne Plaza, but a Regent in Shanghai?)
- Very inconsistent service, some employees are great but I would say most are disinterested/preoccupied with their phones
- ZERO elite recognition
- on stay this week, room was not ready until 6PM (!) on day of check-in; no attempt at service recovery either and communication of room availability was of the "rolling delay" type
- no turndown service (not the end of the world, but I appreciate having a few extra bottles of water in the room)
- empty shower gel/shampoo/conditioner bottles not replaced

Probably not gonna return here for a third stay, thinking of going for the other Regent (Bund) if it has decent rates or one of the many IC properties in the city.
