thanks I managed to get my PNR eventually by contacting CEAIR but the MEA website don’t recognise my MU booking. I’ll be surprised if it does because it’s a different airline.
my trip is over so here’s some updates for all.
i flew MU from SIN to CTS transiting CTS. Skypriority services such as priority check in q, luggage tag and boarding is given, albeit manually. No lounge pass no differentiated boarding pass. This is the same at both SIN and CTS check in counter.
i was able to enter PVG MU operated Skyteam lounge by providing my AZ membership no. Brings +1. Kids enter free, so 4 pax in total. This was a lifesaver because not only was it a huge lounge covering 2 floors, it has good food and shower facilities.
Previously, I flew on MF to HGH and updated that SIN recognised AZ manually and accorded skypriority q, boarding etc but no lounge. The agent upgraded my seat to premium seats right behind business class (I’m flying economy).
This pretty much sums up my experience with both Chinese Skyteam members - skypriority is recognised with varying results due to agent intervention at airport, hence there is an element of subjectivity. Both times the agent started by saying ITA has no partnership with MF/MU. My takeaway is to be nice but firm and some perks will eventually be accorded.
hope one day the system can be sync so there is less explanation needed. Given a choice, I will have fly as *G because the perks are recognised across all partner airlines.
