For seat, can I just skip it altogether, as it says "Free from 24 hrs before flight."? I mean currently it says 30 EUR or similar, but there isn't really any point in buying it, right?

Can you tell me about Plata status? I've just registered for IberiaPlus so my account is currently empty. Does it make any sense to buy credits now, or your advice is mostly about taking the flight now and getting Plata status in the future, which I can use for benefits later on.
No point in paying for seat selection in premium economy (unless you are a family on different bookings) - make sure to do the check in online as soon as the 24h window open and is very likely you can select multiple seats based on preference easily.

Plata will give you free stuff (business class check-in, priority boarding (group 2) and 1 luggage of 23kg) for future flights when you achieve the status. I forgot about the double elite promo that @craigthemif mentioned - if you manage to flight on the dates of the promo is totally certain that you will get it. You can not buy credits to get Plata - you will get it, likely after your last flight as mentioned, and then for future flights (not only on Iberia, but on any OneWorld carrier) it will be useful.
