Stayed here for 3 nights attending a wedding. We had to book via the wedding agency, and there was no chance in booking directly plus the ability to attend the wedding. Oh well, so we only stayed the minimum nights of 3 and were at the Vivid before that.
Knowing that I could not benefit from any Globalist benefits, I booked the best room under the package (ocean front with Club access/privileges)
Upon check-in my wife just said, I should identify myself as Globalist, maybe they could add my account and I‘d nevertheless get the credits and badge. Agent noted down my number on a piece of paper and asked if I am Globalist (admittedly, the membership is not clear when only looking briefly, and did mot notice my LT membership)
We had a room on the 2nd floor and were not too thrilled, so we went back to the check-in area and asked if we could have another room on a higher floor or a larger room, and we would pay additionally. They said the hotel is fully booked and nothing was possible, but potentially the day after, and I should check back again. The app confirmed that no rooms were available. So we decided to stick with the room for all days and started unpacking. About 30 minutes later I got a call from the front desk to stop by as they had another room for us on a higher floor. To our surprise they upgraded us to a massive master suite on the 6th floor (preferred club master suite ocean front). Reason was me being a LT Globalist and them wanting us to enjoy our stay. This was really appreciated and definitely not expected. How the room was available on a „sold out“ hotel…. I have no idea. Pictures in a separate post which I need to upload from my cell phone. They arranged for luggage to be transferred, once that room was cleaned. We were given the new keys already.
Staff throughout the hotel were top.
I cannot comment much on the restaurants, as our food was organized for the group, but the quality for the group was very very good. We once had lunch at the main buffet and were not impressed. Wide variety, but nothing special at all, not very tasty. I now can compare with Vivid buffet (very good) and Zilara Cap Cana (excellent). Other than this no AI experience.
Drinks - plain margaritas were very good, as well as turmeric margaritas and mango caipirinha. The frozen strawberry margaritas was not good, tasteless and too sweet, had to through it away, did not taste of margarita at all.
Pools. All crowded, except the club pool which was peaceful and nice. Access checked via room number.
Overall. Ok grounds for families I‘d say who are maybe on a lower budget. But still 5-600$ for 2 is very high. Food in restaurants and lounge was just ok. I personally will not return to a Dreams property, probably too spoiled by Zilara and other Hyatts, but again I am not much into AI’s in general. I doubt the acquisition of Dreams was a good decision, except for expanding the Klientel base and footprint, whilst diluting the Hyatt brand.
We did not have time to checkout the ocean. But it was not very inviting. If you are looking for chrystal clear turquoise waters, this is not the place. Given the property is within a natural preserve, the dark brown water from the mangroves spoils the experience. Also crocodiles may be found (we did not see).
