premium economy optimal comes out at +370 EUR, but then I didn't add any special seats.

My question is how are the seats on the premium economy compared to the cheapest economy? On the BED-MAD route I think there is actually no difference, is there? On the MAD-BOG route it's a different section, with supposedly better seats?

Which one would you recommend for this flight?
MAD-BOG is almost always an A350 for any of the three flights per day. Premium economy seats have 37" pitch and are wider and more comfortable than normal economy - an XL economy seat may have more legroom, but PE overall is much better, and even if you are tall the 37" should be more than enough. Also take into account that the basic PE tariff (Optima) comes with 1 piece of luggage in the hold included in the price, on top of better on board service. As for the BER-MAD section, no difference at all.

And as bonus, BER-MAD-BOG rt in Premium Economy will give you almost Plata status directly (75*2+425*2=1000), which could give you free luggage (23kg) and priority boarding for future IB and OneWorld flights.
