Do we need one or two Electronic Travel Authorisations (eTAs) for travel via Kenya?

We are travelling to Rwanda via Nairobi and wondering whether we need an eTA for both our inbound and return trips.

We think we need an eTA for our return as we will be spending a night in Nairobi. On our inbound journey we arrive on QR 1335 at 7.35am and leave same day at 1pm on WB 453. This is a transit but I suspect will have to collect our bags in Nairobi. The info on the eTA web site states "All passengers in transit through Kenya arriving and leaving by the same aircraft or transferring to another aircraft and who do not leave the precincts of Airports in Kenya."

Am I correct in assuming we only need to apply for one eTA for our return journey?

Best wishes

Tony

ps. we are on a oneworld RTW ticket which is why we are transiting through Nairobi.
