I will be in Krabi on the day of the departure, and planning to fly to KUL from KBV with Air Asia earlier in the day. I am aware I will have to change terminals and therefore clear immigration. I've excluded Batik Air due to their unreliability and I don't to fly the day before. I understand that there are risks involved.
I'm undecided between 2 flights:
AK867 arriving at KUL at 14:45
AK869 arriving at KUL at 16:55
What would you do? Both allow for plenty of time, but the first one perhaps too much time? What would you do to kill time? Lounges? Cabin hotel? Is a short trip to Kuala Lumpur a bit too much? What about to Putrajaya instead?
You'd
probably be fine on the later flight. The odds are in your favour - but weigh up the potential costs of a misconnect. Unless I were feeling slightly reckless or had pressing reasons for the extra hours in Krabi, I'd aim to maximise the connection time and minimise any anxiety by taking the earlier flight. Up to you: Air Asia is generally reliable but, well, cancellations and delays are random events that can hit any carrier.
Taking the earlier flight you'd likely get 4 or 5 hours kicking your heels. There are worse places than KUL to do that. A day room at an airport hotel might be an idea if you want to splash cash. The airport train into Sentral, and back, would be £20 or so and with waits it'd eat up something like 45 minutes each way - so really only enough time to mooch around the station and attached shopping mall, though the LRT could whisk you one stop to Pasar Seni and its heavily touristed "craft market". Putrajaya's a shorter (and cheaper) journey - but the station's kind of boring and isolated, and i can't think of anything worth getting a taxi to,
