I'd like to think that National status would mean something at Enterprise, but it doesn't seem to.
1. The only positive experience I've had was at Enterprise at KEF. The rep recognized my status and did give me a nice upgrade. Unfortunately it was away from the car I thought I wanted. I had reserved a Dacia Duster manual, I wanted to try it based on James May's reviews. Wound up with a Jeep Compass Trailhawk 4xe. Turned out there was free charging at my hotel, so it extended the range of the $8/gal gas we bought.
2. Enterprise insurance rental? Forget it. Not even a mention. Still got a old Ford Escape with 60k miles for a 40 day rental.
3. Local location 5 minutes from my house. I needed a last minute car, they showed availability. Showed up an hour later, and who turned out to be the branch manager tried to deny me a car. In front of other customers and staff. Let's just say that it got intense. Highly unprofessional. I calmly pointed out that their reservation system showed availability, and if he truly didn't have availability, then he had been dishonest by not closing the location to new rentals. I got my car. On return, he met me and apologized. I think after I left with the rental, he realized that I had EE status, but also that I was renting on my employer's huge corporate contract. He was worried about the post rental survey. I could've torn him a new one. Usually I'm very complimentary, and try to single out staff by name. I just didn't answer this survey, I gave him credit for the apology. But that's it. Turned me off to Enterprise in general.
