I ended up getting a GoH award and decided we want to stay there for 8 nights in july. So I broke it up into a 6 night reservation with GoH applied on booking on the app and a 2 night reservation without. All with points. It wouldn't let me do a 1 night reservation, so that's why there is a 2 night.
So from what i've read, I can just show up to the hotel on the day of my reservation and ask for a room upgrade since it's GoH and let them know I have two reservations. Best case scenario is they give me a room upgrade for 8 nights and breakfast is included every day. Worst case scenario, I keep the same reservations and rooms and get 6 days of free breakfast. Does that sound about right? I don't need to call ahead or anything?
You can certainly ask, but most of the upgrade is processed (pre-assigned) ahead of time. You can pull up your reservations on the app and see what room they assigned you. The most likely upgrade is an ocean view room, which is pretty distant.
