When your flight is delayed beyond its scheduled departure time, EU261 entitles you to meals (in proportion to the wait time) plus two free phone calls, emails or faxes within the following duration and distance constraints:
- A delay of two or more hours for flights of 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) or less
- A delay of three or more hours for intra-EU flights of more than 1,500 kilometers (932 miles) and for all other flights from 1,500-3,000 kilometers (932-1,864 miles)
- A delay of four or more hours for all other flights
If your new departure time is scheduled at least the day after your originally scheduled flight, you are also entitled to transportation to and from the airport to complimentary hotel accommodations.
If your flight is delayed at least five hours after the scheduled departure, the airline is required to reimburse your ticket. If you have a connecting flight, the airline is also required to offer you a return flight to the departure airport at the earliest opportunity.
I wish to clarify what other said given your latest post.
IF your flight was delayed by more than 5 hours when departing BCN, EC261 states that the airline is required to refund your ticket if you decide not to fly.
But you did fly and QR accommodates you at the earliest opportunity. You are not owed a refund.
IF you did not like the new routing and believed that QR could get you to SGN via other airlines you could have tried to ask QR when in DOH.
But delays and missed connections do happen frequently.
The remaining question is whether you are due the 600 compensation for the arrival delay.
As others have mentioned, it all depends on the reason for the delay.
