I'm here now. Very friendly folks at check-in. Just to double-check, I asked about the globalist happy hour, was told again that it is dead and gone. I asked about $20 coupons. One of the agents looked dutifully through some bins and drawers (I fully believe he would have given me a coupon if one existed). He found some coupons for free coffee at Starbucks, I said thanks for checking. I had used 9000 points and a SUA to book a suite but I (stupidly) forgot that the regency suite here is just a junior suite. So I called down, offered to pay to upgrade to a true one bedroom suite, and was graciously upgraded to one that was right down the hall.

The renovations are interesting. It feels quieter and less frenetic in the lobby without the market thing front and center and without the bar where it used to be. I do like the new bar with seating on all 4 sides.

We had dinner in the restaurant. I think I liked the old menu better, and the prices on the mains seem sky-high. But the steak quesadilla "shareable" (which sounds like "appetizer") at $22 is very large and was actually quite tasty. $14 draft beers (standard 16 ounce pour).

I am of course sad that the happy hour and coupons are gone, but for 9000 points I have no qualms coming back.
