If your flight is delayed at least five hours after the scheduled departure, the airline is required to reimburse your ticket. If you have a connecting flight, the airline is also required to offer you a return flight to the departure airport at the earliest opportunity.
If you had abandoned your journey and returned home you may have had a claim for a full refund. But having continued your journey you are not entitled to transportation to your final destination AND a full refund. If the delay was within the airline's control, you may be able to claim EC261 delay compensation.

QR appear to have complied with their obligations for duty of care. Personal preference is just that, others may have been fine with what was provided.

I would clarify your understanding of the regulations before making any claim with QR, and keep it short, factual, clear and objective. Finding out the reason for the delay may also help clarify whether you are entitled to any delay compensation.
