There is no change to either the charging period or the payment due date.
When I called to see if this was an anomaly, the excuse given was that it gives the cardholder time to manually pay a failed DD before the payment due date.
Apparently there was a change to the Ts & Cs that I hadn't clocked.
They did offer to change the date of my direct debit ongoing... but then that also moves your charging period. So essentially they've managed to reduce their exposure by three days, and your free credit period by three days assuming you pay by direct debit.
yes, it did apply to all Amex cards; they have changed the dates and sent advance communication
