It would just guarantee consistency of the premium product on the route. I've had a 787 downgauged to a 321 on YYZ-YVR before. That certainly did not feel like the premium product I paid for.
I have yet to experience a Single Aisle lie flat product that meets wide body standards. It's kind of like a kid wearing their parents clothing... Works from afar, but up close, doesn't cut the Mustard.
