No problem for keeping it closed during meal service, the FA just opens it when bringing your dishes.
I think this is exactly what the FA's want to avoid, and I have to say that I understand it. Not only is it probably annoying for them, but it likely slows down service for everyone.
They should just make an announcement that, while they are unlocking the doors, if your door is closed they will not be able to serve you. So if you want to go to sleep, close the door. If you want food, leave it open. Like a "Do Not Disturb" sign.
