Sometimes it’s easier (and safer) not to have the police try to strong-arm someone out of a small enclosed space. Seems the crew thought it might be easier to have a manager meet the flight and escort him from row 1 into the terminal and into the waiting arms of police inside - without being there I can’t judge, but can absolutely see the pros of that approach. If anything had kicked off they’d have got there in seconds anyway.
