I've flown mid-con redeyes before (LAX-CLE, DEN-EWR, DEN-MIA, PHX-MIA, FAI-DFW) and they're definitely worthy of being avoided if you have a choice. I know it's quite stereotypical and not healthy, but I try to have a glass of wine or two before the flight so I can fall asleep the second I board (often before we even take off).
