Sadly it seems to be less drink and more ‘other substances’ these days with those who fly in higher cabins that crew have to be aware of. I won’t bore the thread (or diminish the OP’s wife’s very distressing situation), but we had a similar issue on a BA flight back from MLE 2yrs ago in F. Somebody definitely took something non-alcoholic (the flight leaves MLE in the morning and the airport is dry) and we were met by armed police at LHR because he verbally assaulted a cabin crew member and physically assaulted a CW passenger and he was in F with us!
