I don't know what happened, but FWIW, this was on N836SK, one of Skywest's newest owned and operated CR9s (just 5.6 years old.) The flight track is here:

N833SK (a 5.8 year old OO-owned and operated CR9) was sent to get the passengers from BUF to DTW.
