In over twenty-five years in the industry, I can count on one hand the number of times someone has questioned or complained about the TV channel being played in a public area. In certain cases, it has nothing to do with the property and everything to do with the last guest to use the remote if the property allows the TV to be controlled that way. It can also be that the management company/ownership group wants X on the TV and could care less what you or anyone else thinks of their choice (I work at a property like that now). IME, this is not something that usually has a policy or an agenda tied to it. It's just on for background noise and the channel was randomly picked. If you don't like what's on, ask if it can be changed or ignore it.
