But the US airline lounges have done it right- it’s been awhile since I’ve seen news channels on, and the TVs are usually showing sports channels.
Ha, I actually thought this was in the AA forum when I was responding to it. AA lounges IME are fairly evenhanded--DCA E often has sports, DCA D often has news (both sides).

OP, I am more sympathetic in the hotel lounge context. Frankly I would far prefer having no TV at all in a hotel lounge. Just some nice background music to help muffle conversations would be my preference.
