I think it stinks that this is the case, but it’s not like folks are riveted to the sets to get THE NEWS, as your room has a TV where you can catch up with channels you like. Maybe these sets could be tuned to Weather or Sports channels which might be less offputting to some guests?
I've always appreciated that I can pretty much count on seeing both CNN/MSNBC and FOX while on the road. (I haven't had a TV at home in over 20 years, so I don't get that sort of inane content at home, and at a hotel I typically don't even realize that there is a TV unless it's already on.) The idea that people would be so offended by the mere sight of an opposing view that we must by all means guard them from that sight... well, I personally thinj that alone favors keeping the things on. That said, I appreciate when sports are on (when there's actually a game on). I think news is a suitable option for when there's not.
