I’ve read through the thread and for the most part over the years, been successful in waitlisting segments in IN on mixed awards. Not always successful in clearing but that’s a different subject…
todays strange one - booked xxx-SFO-BNE-SYD (last segment on virgin australia). SFO-BNE was confirmed as IN class at booking, and xxx-sfo, as well as BNE-SYD being in XN.
didn’t really want an extra hop in OZ so I called to try and waitlist the SFO-SYD in IN class.
many calls and many hours later, after being told every different answer on why it’s not possible,, I’m about to give up, as the time I’ve spent is now longer than the virgin flight!
the best conversation was with a “supervisor” who told me that I should know better than to try and cheat the system as a 1K. This isn’t and was never possible and I shouldn’t have even asked. “All I am able to do is waitlist an earlier or later flight to BNE, and not allowed to change to the non stop.” (His words)
is this correct and I mIs-read or misunderstand the rules on waitlisting for different flights?
I’ve been wrong before, but the rules seem to state this is possible? Thoughts?
