Thank you, Aventine, for the room photos. I am mildly dismayed with the ocean views being partially blocked by vegetation, but the greenery is lovely in its own right.
Amanpuri made the decision for me. Only an entry level pavilion (and a few of the multi-bedroom villas) was available and its lack of privacy was unacceptable to me, especially at that price point as noted by callmedtop.
Staying at Rosewood was the common sense thing to do, especially since this is a business trip and I'll be traveling alone. The Rosewood may not stir passion in my traveler's heart but I'm sure I'll be very comfortable. And the bar (an important consideration) looks beautiful.
The end of this trip coincides with the start of Art Basel Hong Kong so I think I'll make a detour there--with a stay at the Peninsula--on my way back to the US.
