I would think that the more that gets spent on Delta cobranded credit cards, the more money that both AMEX and Delta make, increasing Delta's bottom line.
I'm not arguing at all that Delta perks (upgrades and more, etc.) aren't what they used to be, but many (myself included) are getting value from cobranded credit cards. Even the post I replied to was saying that spending on AMEX gives valuable Delta benefits.
