And if European carriers can serve a meal on an hour flight, there is no excuse for AA and other carriers not doing the same for flights of 2 hours.
What I didn’t mention earlier is that the flight was delayed over 1.5 hours due to a technical issue. For those familiar with Belize, the airport lacks a lounge and has very limited food options. In such circumstances, even something as simple as a hot sandwich on board in business would have been greatly appreciated.

AA does have an excuse for not serving meals on that short of a route. They don't want to spend the money.
Regarding Belize, Abergris Caye airport has a small snack bar upstairs but you didn't fly to MIA from there. At BZE, while no lounge, there are a fairly wide range of food options upstairs at the restaurant. Sorry you missed that! Considering it is BZE airport, the restaurant IS a welcome oasis!
