Aloft is older. For sight seeing, S&C is at XMD....a very touristy place.
My suggestion if u can, is to split the stays if u can? Maybe one night at S&C?
I like the Aloft cuz of the night market right outside...I gain weight everything I stay there..
BTW, I always skip breakfast...so I don't know the quality for Aloft's BF since I have so much food at the night market the night before.
I won't go back to S&C for sure; but I would for Aloft...esp with MRT right in front. Alot more convenient and I really like having a local small night market right in front. Aloft is also close to several really good speakeasy bars. XMD is super touristy. So depends on what u r looking for.
S&C only provides transport to XMD MRT but not back..you will have to walk back if taking the MRT. 10 to 15 mins walk depending on pace.
I wouldn't say u get the boutique experience like u would with other bonvoy properties. The Riverview rooms are nice..if u get the city view rooms, better off at Aloft. Aloft rooms have no views BTW, but nice roof top pool. Might be closed depending on season.
