LAX-CDG and CDG-LAX: old cabin with the sliding seats. I thought that I hated them, but after the seat in the refurbished 777 cabin, I have to eat my words. I had exit row so plenty of legroom.
New Premium catering: a definite improvement, especially out of CDG! The meal was NOT the old economy meal but one tailored for premium. The food out of LAX was slop, however. The pre arrival snack is odd..it’s sort of like a conglomeration of items picked up at a convenience store..not appealing! And wouldn’t a lunch type be more appropriate if the LAX flight arrives at 1 pm?
CDG-JNB and JNB-CDG: New 777-300er product. I had bulkhead seats both ways. I’m tall so need an ample seat cushion length. The new seats are not comfortable….to get them to recline takes the strength of Hercules to press the button and get the seat to recline and then come back up…same with the useless footrest. I was not a fan of this seat and new new business seat looked more like a coffin to be locked into..creepy.
New Premium catering: both meals are truly premium—fresh and well portioned. I’ll echo my thoughts on the pre arrival snack.
AF is truly trying to up their premium games, which has earned back my business!
sidenote: all four crews were great..not the surly demeanor I’ve been used to!
What is premium about the meals? From my previous experience this year, the so called premium meals are only from CDG and still served in those awful cheap containers (no plating). Inbound, the meals were generally the same as those of economy and they were really bad. Now that joke of a second meal (snack bag) is appalling.
i don’t see any value in Premium tbh, only when the price difference with Y is small.
