Issue interlining bags ANA international to UA domestic on separate tickets
Situation with my wife who is now at NRT.
Her ticket NRT-SFO booked directly at UA’s site in Premium Economy. However flight is operated by ANA. She has separate flight SFO-RNO several hours later after arrival.
At NRT check-in ANA agents have refused to tag her bags to the second flight, which means that she now have to pay $80 for checked baggage.
Plus she was told that her chosen window seat is broken and only middle seat is available. She asked if it is possible to move to Business (ticket is PE revenue). They checked and told her that >6 open seats are available in business but they won’t move her without paying for upgrade.
So… now she is going to the gate but what the local audience would suggest how to handle this situation on arrival at SFO?
If it matters - she doesn’t have any status with UA/ANA.
Thanks
