Right to care is not easily lost. I get your point that at some point you could be considered to have created a totally new itinerary which bears little resemblance to what you booked, but in essence you are still trying to get to the West Coast. So I am positive that you are still covered by Right to Care, and usually BA is generous in this space. Obviously make sure you haven't gone mad with the LAS hotel, but if it's a middle range propoerty I would expect that to be covered. The hire car delta should also be OK, though it would in a way be easier to process if you flew LAS-LAX. As for compensation, I suspect that's not payable thanks to Bert. but I don't have enough specifics about your case here.
Thanks CWS! Yeah, we didn't go crazy on the hotel here, but given the F1 Grand Prix they were all on a pricier side. Strangely, the AA agent completely refused to connect us on LAS-LAX flight with United which we would have easily made, saying that they can't use non-OW airlines for those cases (?).
We are still going to try for UK261, as it happened yesterday (22nd of November), and it looked like the only flight from DUB that got affected was actually our flight.
