Welcome to Flyertalk and welcome to the BA forum. You may want to look at the thread link in post 2 since it has a lot of detail. But in summary, and assuming you are on one reservation:
1) Yes in normal circumstances.
2) Yes, but the CT scanners mean there isn't much difference. See that thread above for how to go landside and use the First Wing as an alternative, if you are a UK, USA, EU (etc) passport holder.
3) Yes
