I am going to do a bit of speculation here. The weekend didn't blow you away, you were unable to really say why, it just seemed that looking back on it, it wasn't as enjoyable to you as the last time you were in Istanbul which is a comparable city in a lot of ways.
I'm sure we've all had experiences like that.
Not a fault of you or the place, just a confluence of circumstances that had things been otherwise could easily have happened the other way round.
