American airline 777-300er Extra legroom row 20

I have pretty much a few random questions about these seats with the extra legroom... And since i prefer to keep everything in one place i hope i can get some good truth answers by these who have already experience seating in seat 20J and seat 20L.
I will be flying for the first time on an American Airlines 777-300ER. I've chosen an extra legroom seat in the economy section for $200. It's located next to the galley and the emergency exit doors. However, I canceled that seat four days later and selected seat 20, which is beside a window. Both seats 20J and 20L are for me and my partner, costing $200 each. It seems that I didn’t receive a refund for the original seat I paid for. I’ve learned that one should think carefully before changing seats, especially when it involves an additional cost.

I'm also curious as to why it costs 200 Australian dollars; it seems quite expensive for just an economy seat. Is it because it’s located near the premium seats, or is it because there are three windows in row 20, as I’ve seen in photos?

Regarding the other questions about seats 20L and 20J, I appreciate that they are both together, which I prefer, as it means no one else can sit next to us. However, I've read many stories about issues with the flip-out screens; some passengers have claimed that the screens are too loose and can fall off or show error messages. How common are these problems in these seats? I have a 14-hour flight from Sydney to LAX, and I want to be comfortable without worrying about malfunctioning screens.

I've also heard that you cannot bring a small bag with you or have any plastic bags around you, even if you’re holding your bag with headphones and candy inside. Is it true that you can't have it beside your seat at all during takeoff and landing? What if I simply hang the plastic bag on the armrest next to the window since it wouldn't be going anywhere? I would like to have a bag containing candy, a water bottle, and small towels for refreshing my face during the flight, along with my noise-canceling headphones. But where can I put the bag since there seems to be nowhere other than possibly hanging it against the armrest?

Regarding legroom, I am 168 cm tall, and I've noticed that economy seats do not have any support for elevating your legs, unlike premium seats. What happens if I place my small luggage case in front of me to rest my feet on? However, my small carry-on has four wheels, which might wobble around. I’d rather not place a blanket or a pillow on the floor when I need to use it to rest.

I’ve also heard that these seats offer complimentary refreshments. Do they really provide drinks as soon as I’m seated, or is it easy for them to forget once everyone boards the plane?

Since I paid $200 for the seat, does that mean I can board before business and premium class passengers? If my ticket doesn’t mention anything about “advance boarding” or “priority boarding”—even though I booked the seat that says “board early”—how would they know I’ve paid extra for this seat? They might assume I’m just another economy passenger.

How comfortable is seat 20? I don’t like distractions, and while I'm glad there is no seat in front of me, I think it would be a bit miserable to stare at a wall for 14 hours. I’m departing at 9 AM Sydney time and arriving at LAX by 6 AM. I’m not sure how enjoyable the view out the window will be, especially given that I’ll have to lean forward quite a bit just to see it. However, I do notice that there are almost two and a half windows beside me, which is nice.

Regarding the screen question, can I flip out the screen when I board the plane, or will I get into trouble for doing so before the flight reaches cruising altitude? I’ve heard that you aren’t allowed to flip it out until the plane is airborne, or that the screen is designed to only work at cruising altitude.

These questions stem from my curiosity, and I’d love to experience both the positives and negatives of these seats. I’ve never sat in one with a flip-out screen, and I am concerned about the reports I've read regarding malfunctioning screens. If the screen is broken, I doubt the staff would be able to assist me.
