I wasn't really recommending the Protea, but it worked well for me in January when the rates were very low and the Marriott bonus EQN offer was on. A long stay got me most of the way to Marriott Platinum.

I've looked at the Westin before and actually my parents stayed there last year as part of a cruise. I don't think they were super impressed but thought it was nice enough, although any time I have looked I found the prices to be quite high.
