- Flight left on time with minor runway delay which is to be expected with weather
- Couple of hours into flight the pilot announces we are diverting to ATL (not JFK) due to mechanical issue
- Landed at ATL ~1am. Reboarded 2:30am
- 4:30 am still on plane at gate. No word on when we are leaving.
- Crew is now timing out and claim it's before the mandatory time when they must provide water.
Is it true they will not provide water until a certain amounts of hours waiting? Delta thankfully just sent everyone vouchers were aren't worth much onboard at 4:30. Right
A maximum of 2 hours is specified in contingency plan for lengthy tarmac delays --

Had a JFK-MUC flight a number of years ago with an issue in one of hydraulic systems 3-4 hours into flight where they diverted back to ATL. They just scrubbed the flight and rescheduled it for the next afternoon which seems like the more sensible thing to do.
