Hmmm. We do talk about that issue fairly often in the VPN and SIM card threads, and maps comes up frequently in both.

But, now that you mention it, I wouldn't expect a casual visitor to this forum to intuit that those discussions take place in their respective baskets, especially given the somewhat unclear thread titles.

In any event, I still think giving maps a proper home of its own might be a nice baby step in the direction of clarity. Assuming that works out okay, we could try to tackle some of the others in a similar manner.
