I'll check my bags through to Asia when I do my initial check-in at ATL, so I won't lose time at either YUL or CDG waiting for checked bags and re-checking. I'll just take one carry-on with a toilertry kit, change of clothes, and on-board entertainment. That should give me a bit more time in Montreal and I won't have to worry about baggage much (just the threat of carry-on walking-off) at CDG.

I was hoping for a transit hotel like at Changi and elsewhere in Asia, but it looks like I'll have to make do with the arrivals lounge and a relaxation room in the departures lounge. Considering my hotel in Bangkok (The Peninsula) is cheaper than the Airport Sheraton at CDG, I'll pass on that, though I appreciate the info. I suppose my greatest hope for avoiding killer jetlag is that a seat opens up on flights from ATL to Europe a day earlier, which would give me nearly two full days and hence justify (require) a real hotel somewhere in Paris.

Thanks to all for the tips.
