I find the lack of any sort of hot breakfast option as part of the standard quite puzzling. Sure, it saves a couple bucks a guest, but even on the Choice/Wyndham side most of their brands have a hot breakfast as part of the brand standards. For Choice, only Econo Lodge and Rodeway have no requirement for a hot breakfast, and on Wyndham's side the "highest-end" without hot breakfast as standard is Microtel (maybe La Quintas also don't need hot breakfast, though I've usually seen them have it.) Even Quality Inns and Baymonts have hot breakfast! Sure, it's usually not as extensive as a Hampton, but there's usually at least some sort of egg product and sausage or bacon, or a biscuits and gravy offering. I've even seen hot breakfast items in Econo Lodges and Super 8s (though those exceed the brand standards.)

Maybe they're trying to market it as the Hilton version of a Super 8 (clean with the basics but nothing more,) but unless they're pricing it in the same realm as Super 8s, or strictly enforcing brand standards to the point that I can count on it to be a clean, comfortable room every time without checking the reviews, I'd rather just stick with checking the reviews for the nearest Choice and Wyndham mid-brand hotels, and likely save a few bucks while getting a better breakfast than Spark offers.
