Yeah. Upgraded Mrs NM last year BNE-PER-BNE from red-e-Deal super special N fare. As disappointing as it is to have that option removed, I am in no way surprised that it is happening.

My work domestic travel is all Y, B, H or K fares, so not a show stopper for those. My only down side is that I now do very little domestic travel - used to be 90% of my travel, not domestic is less than 10% and the rest is international now (mostly to USA). So the hike of points required for long-haul upgrades, and no recognition of high yeild fares such as B and H as full economy fares are my biggest gripes.

But I guess QF wins out in the end. I find ways to travel paid business class even though corporate policy is for economy cabin. This differs from members of the AA program who would be paying the economy fares and upgrading through the many options of certs/miles etc. But they now have to pay a co-payment fee for international upgrades as well (is it US$250??) so we can be very thankful that has not been undertaken by QF.

My plan is to do enough paid business class international travel each year to retain WP status, and then stick with paid B/H fares and see how the new upgrade waitlist policy pans out.

I will reserve judgement on the lack of confirmed international upgrades until I have some first hand experience.
