as for the non point earning flight, it is bizarre one, that made it more complicated than it needed, but maybe was easier for them to manage that way.
The point of either being a points earning flight or an EB booking is probably because that's the only ways for SAS to get a record of the flight in their systems.
They do want to give points to all
winners, but people are not winners if they don't fly on point earning flights.....
