1) Has an official reason been given for the 2hr 50 min delay as BA gold line said this was due to a late arriving airframe whilst the pilot said the original aircraft went tech on take off and a new aircraft was swapped?
2) as a result of the delay and BA unwillingness to swap us onto another Man - Lhr flight due to having checked bags we missed the CPT flight. Is EC261 due in this instance?
Many thanks as always
1) While I can't see another aircraft having been scheduled to operate that LHR-MAN-LHR rotation yesterday, your plane (G-NEOW) came in from Milan on time at 17.40 to T5 at LHR. Given the LHR-MAN sector of your delayed flight was suppose to leave T5 at 16.30, there definitely was some swapping of frames around to enable a return sector to MAN operate, albeit heavily delayed.
2) If you ticket was a MAN-LHR-CPT through ticket, then yes you are eligible for UK261 compensation as you will arrive in CPT about 24hrs after your scheduled arrival time (assuming they have rebooked you on tonights LHR-CPT service.
3) Also keep your expense receipts from your 24hrs in LHR and submit those when you lodge your UK261 claim.
