Not all is lost; when crappy sales like these occur, and one has an Aeroplan booking that falls within this sale date, it would be beneficial to see if it is worth cancelling and rebooking at the lower cost due to the lower base fare.

Just did this for a couple of bookings to YYZ-LAX next spring, as an example. I saved about 8K round-trip (SE, so free changes and/or cancellations).
