Anyone else feel the same way? If so, which credit card would you recommend for maximum usability?
Awards
are harder to find. By that I mean, of course, awards that are worth booking. 250k miles one way to Europe in J aren’t my thing. I did recently find two DE seats in May from FRA to SEA on a day that works great for us. 70k miles each instead of 55k in the past, but okay. The Hawaiian Mastercard signup bonus covered the difference, I suppose.
I also found 80k UA awards for J seats on LH to Europe for another trip. For 2024 that ain’t bad and I finally get to fly the 747-8 and on the upper deck. Good use of some Chase URs.
Luck and patience (and search tools) are mandatory these days.
That brings me to your broad question about credit cards. I value diversification. Not having all my eggs in one basket. So while I have a lot of AS miles, I try to put most of my spend on cards that earn me flexible points that are transferable to various airlines.
