Wasn't until I got home a couple hours later that I realized my mistake, but by then the flight had turned to ORD, where it then flew on on DTW for the final leg of the day. Immediately filled out the online form.

Next day, I went back to the AA baggage office at BOS to see if it had turned up. It hadn't, and I asked the AA employee for the number of the baggage offices in ORD and DTW (773-686-4234 and 734-840-9103, respectively).

I tried calling ORD - no response, not even a voicemail message to let me know I had gotten through to the right place. DTW was extremely polite and responsive, and warned me that I'd never be able to get through to ORD, because they can't even get through to ORD. I've tried calling a couple times a week subsequently, still to no avail.

I sadly don't have any travel to Chicago coming up, but the possibility that it's sitting in the baggage office there whilst nobody answers is quite frustrating... Perhaps anyone has some advice? Thanks in advance!
Is this the form you filled out?

If so, I would follow up directly with AA customer service (phone call).

A few years ago, when I left an iPad on a flight, there was no communication with anyone at that airports. I filled in the form, and all correspondence was handled through email, until the item was located and shipped to my house.

Good luck!
