This is a textbook average airport hotel - I stayed over here on arrival and departure from PIT, one night each. The decor is out of the early 2000's. The guestrooms themselves are fine - I appreciated that they upgraded the old mechanical thermostats to modern, digital thermostats. I got an upgrade to a suite on the night I was staying for my return. The suite (227) was massive, although I found it strange that there was no desk. It also at one time had direct access to the pool from the room - one of the windows was replaced with a sliding glass door. This access was shut off as they screwed in a metal bar to prevent you from opening the sliding door.
The nicest benefit with the suite was the bathroom - that was a nice upgrade over the shabby bathroom that the standard rooms have.
My only complaint is the other guests getting up early to make early flights slamming doors. I wish the rooms were more resilient to this noise.
Globalist breakfast was fine - it is the buffet that others mention. It was properly comp'ed on our first stay, but I had to text the hotel to correct the bill since the entire amount was charged post-check out. They took care of it quickly. Oddly, I was charged sales tax for breakfast both times. It was a couple of bucks, so I didn't make an issue out of it, but I don't recall seeing this before anywhere else. I did kind of find it funny that there's a small placard at the hostess stand that says "DISCOUNTS - American 20%, Southwest 40%, Spirit 40%, Alaska 40%". I guess AA's stinginess extends to the agreements they hammer out for discounts on crew meals.
My recommendation if you find yourself at the restaurant for dinner - get the chicken. It's reminiscent of crock pot-type chicken - the meat falls off the bone and was really very tasty. Otherwise the menu is... meh. I'm also almost certain I wasn't served the wine I ordered... unless the pinot noir I ordered was supposed to taste a whole lot like a cheaper bordeaux blend.
Overall, this hotel won't win any awards, but it's fine for a one night stay before a flight the next day.
