You also mentioned sushi, one of it not my favorite genre of food and I really miss Daimatsu Sushi (what is now Yakitori Sake House and is nowhere near as good as Daimatsu) which closed in 2011 due to it not being popular with the crowd who loves lobster bombs and other Americanized Maki. Daimatsu offered some of the best nigiri and sashimi I have ever had in Florida, it was a gem.
If you Mother loves sushi, she should try Masamune Japanese Restaurant in Deerfield Beach which is good, not as good as Daimatsu, but another place I miss since moving back to Orlando.
Since your last report, my wife and I did go to Las Vegas, we ate at the Bacchanal buffet and we found it to be excellent, honestly as good as the The Breakers Sunday Brunch for roughly a little less than half the price. We had the chance to remind ourselves of the The Breakers Sunday Brunch recently to celebrate a close friends birthday and my wife and I both commented that while the The Breakers does one heck of a job, Bacchanal does a great job for a lot less money.
Regardless, it sounds like you had another wonderful time in Las Vegas, I look forward to reading more of your trip report.
kmersh how have you been? Wow thank you so much I am glad that my photos were able to bring back memories of when you used to live in Boca Raton and it is awesome that you have a history with it, as Boca is one of my most frequented areas from living in Florida as well as when I used to visit my Maternal Grandparents when they used to snowbird in nearby Highland Beach from 1981-2008! You are absolutely right they did renovate the fountain sometime in the late to mid 2010s, as since you left, the mall was undergoing renovations. If I remember correctly, they were still doing major renovations on the mall until at least mid-2017ish, as I remember this from when I moved to Florida in late 2016.
That's OK I definitely understand how sushi is not everyone's favorite genre of food. Sushi is one of my favorite genres of food, but I am very picky about it since it is hard to get sushi right and find many places can be inconsistent! I have never heard of Daimatsu, but since it closed in 2011 and I already had a somewhat regular spot from when I used to visit the Boca area, it may explain why I never went there. However, if it were still around, the fact that they have the best nigiri and sashimi would make my mouth water for sure and with that fact, it would be a regular spot for me. I have heard of Yakitori Sake House and I know it is a popular spot, but I have never been there.
It's too funny you mention Masamune in Deerfield Beach, as it used to be a regular spot for me and my Mother. They used to have some of the best sushi, sashimi, and nigiri we have eaten but sadly, around late 2021, the parents sold to a new owner and for a while, it was excellent, but around mid-2022, it just went downhill. The final straw was when my Mother got an order of Salmon Sashimi that was not up to par and they refused to make it right, which would not have happened under the old ownership. What a shame as Masamune used to be one of our regular spots. We go to Sushi Bang Bang in Boynton Beach nowadays and it is fabulous! How are you liking Orlando? I love visiting there, especially for Disney World lol! Are there any good sushi places up there? Would love to know in case I go up there again.
Wow that's fantastic that you and your wife went back to Las Vegas and had the pleasure of eating at Bacchanal! If I remember correctly, you were convincing your Mother to go there when we chatted in my previous TR. It is awesome that you and your wife found Bacchanal to be excellent, as I definitely feel the same way. I think I have to agree with you that the Bacchanal is not far off from The Breakers and for a lot less money indeed! I hope you and your friends had a wonderful time at The Breakers and it is no question that they do a heck of a job, although I have never been, but the Bacchanal just does as well for $90 for dinner tops instead of say $200/person at The Breakers.
We indeed had a splendid time in Las Vegas and I cannot wait to write more about our trip. A pleasure to have you back
