Datapoint (FWIW): Applied yesterday (Sunday) Ink Preferred, 3 other Ink cards 6-15 months old including (another) Ink Preferred 11 months old, 3 other Chase biz cards. 2 oldest biz cards had CL reduced months ago, forgot to reduce CL on 4 most recent cards. 3 Inks with $200-$500 activity every month, 2 UA biz cards with zero use after SUB (yeah, possibly living dangerously ), new Hyatt Biz 1st statement with $6,000 balance few days ago. Signed in to my Chase Biz account, Sole Prop, 1 employee.

Application “in review”, called 800-453-9719 #1 today, rep in Tampa “Lending Dept” said she could review, hold for 5 minutes, xferred without being told to rep in Phoenix, asked her if she could review and decide, she said yes, I gave her the/my usual spiel*, hold for 3-5 minutes, said she couldn’t approve new CL but as I mentioned I could move from other cards, ended up moving from 3 other cards (in part due to minimum CL of $15,000 on UA Club Biz card, was able to lower CL on UA Biz card to $5,000). Account (and last 4 of account #) and new CLs for other 3 cards seen online immediately.

(* my spiel which has worked many times and only failed once or twice that I can vaguely recall, paraphrasing: I’m not asking for additional credit, I’m happy to move credit from other Chase small business credit card accounts, I used to be a W2 employee for 1 hospital so no business expenses, now I do consulting and independent contracting for multiple businesses so it’s helpful to have different business credit cards for different work sites, some of which are out of state so a biz travel credit card like this one is helpful, my major business expenses are business taxes, I’m a retired Navy Afghanistan veteran, prior to being CPC I was in Chase’s Military banking program.)
(I know my posts here are often verbose , I like to offer pertinent and comprehensive background, situational and resource information, never know which part of the process might be of interest to different people.)

Datapoints: - application & approval for identical Chase Ink card while prior card still open
- Chase 5/24 not enforced for Ink cards
- lowering total Chase (biz and/or personal) CL might be prudent
- not all overseas call center agents are clueless robots who can only read a script
- possible new Chase recon phone #
- REQUEST re quoting

Background: Long time churner, ~280 total accounts past 45-50 years, ~200 total SUBs, since joining FT ~14 yrs ago ~160 accounts & SUBs, averaged 20/24 for few years prior to COVID & 5/24, Chase CPC in 2016 to get (new product) Sapphire Reserve approval & SUB 2-3 months after Sapphire Preferred approval & SUB, admittedly notional biz credentials, changed from 10% to 90% biz cards after 5/24 started. Recall years ago applying for biz cards with unique biz names like “DrJ Photos” or “DrJ Pics” so I could tell them if necessary during a recon call that I was going to sell photographs, past few years just apply using my name as biz name, SSN, sole prop, 0 or 1 employee, mid 6 figure personal income, low 6 figure biz income, $2-3k expected monthly spend. Currently at ~22/24 all cards, 3/24 all personal cards plus 8/24 Chase Biz cards, Ink Cash approval & SUB July 2023.

Until recently always an advocate of consolidating CLs vice reducing CLs. Decided to reduce total Chase Biz CLs after CIP recon call above. At that time 3.5 months ago total Chase Biz CL across 6 cards ~$75,000, including 11 month old Ink Pref and 5 other cards each with $10k -$16k CL.

Called Chase 2 months ago to close older CIP and to reallocate CL for all 6 remaining open Biz cards, lowered 2-3 rarely used to $2k each, lowered 3-4 regularly used to $6-8k each, $27k total.

Case Presentation: Applied Ink Cash (CIC) 2 nights ago, “in review”. No automatic joy yesterday morning, called 800-453-9719 #1, asked to be transferred to “Chase business card credit analyst who can review an application and render a decision”. Transferred and introduced to Abcdef in India, initially disappointed and skeptical due to many experiences with overseas agents not being able to deal with “off script” concerns, those feelings soon vanished and were replaced with appreciation and gratitude. He said he would put me on hold for a minute to review, he would come back if it took too long, I asked if I could provide additional information, he said of course, I did my usual spiel as in the quote above. Hold 1-2 minutes, he came back, said he needs few more minutes, I asked if we got cut off can he call me back, he said “oddly, no, we cannot make calls but I’ll give you the direct number to our dept so you won’t have to go round and round, 877-260-0087.” I asked for the title or official name of the department “Card Lending Verification Dept” (biz and personal). Hold another 1-2 minutes, he came back, no questions, “good news for you, approved, $15,000”, no CL reallocation necessary, account noted online immediately with pop-up “welcome” pages. (Planning to close older CIC card in ~2 months, ASAP after new SUB received.)

Discussion: I preemptively lowered biz CLs a couple of months ago. Although that didn’t work exactly as hoped for instant approval it did work regarding need to reallocate CL to get to approved.

Abcdef in India was terrific, personable, affable, sense of humor, and most importantly affirmatively productive with an approval. At one point, he complimented me with something like “you are very accomplished, we talk to many different people and only remember a few.” He understood my humor after he said “you have been a Chase customer for a very long time” and I said “that just means I’m really old” . I was concerned during the holds that if he came back with “still in review” or “declined” I would have to amend my opinion of him, very pleased that didn’t happen. He accomplished something (approval) I previously thought only a USA agent could accomplish.

I did not “test” the phone number I was given for Chase “Card Lending Verification Dept” (possible biz and personal recon).

PLEASE, for the love of all things holy in Frequent Flyer World (and to keep the length of the thread easily readable), if quoting this post, please edit the quote to include only the pertinent parts that are being addressed in the reply. If replying to the overall post/quote, just a few words with “…” are sufficient. Thank you.

THANK YOU once again FlyerTalk and all Mods and all those who participate to share knowledge and experiences which (might) improve everyone’s travel experiences. I’d never be able to always fly lay-flat for all flights over 5-6 hours and get free suite upgrades and free $62 breakfasts were it not for the helpful and valuable knowledge I’ve learned here.
