Holiday Inn Express Folkestone - Channel Tunnel

What is your Priority Club status? Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay? Yes

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive? Standard Double booked, and that's what we got. I don't think there's anything else?

How are the rooms?
it's an HIX, so their "standard room".
A bed, open wardrobe, small desk, office chair and a bigger chair.
Kettle for tea and coffee.
King sized bed made of 2 singles put together; a noticeable gap and a bit of roll-together between the 2 singles.
Not much floor space. Arriving with 2 large(r) bags might spell trouble. Fortunately, probably like most we had just 1 night and little baggage.
It seems comparatively new so still in reasonably good condition.

How is the exec. lounge?
It's a HIX, so...?

What was good and what was bad?
good

close to the Channel Tunnel.
You get what you pay for; you know what you're getting in advance
no parking charge
"breakfast" included
staff are friendly and personable.
cheap, cheerful, and clean. ok for a night.

bad
room is a little small.
"breakfast" is not a great experience, limited choice, quality and availability - powdered scrambled egg and OJ-concentrate included.
The office chair at the desk is far too low to work from at the desk and is not height adjustable. I had a couple of calls to make and swapped with the larger "casual" chair, even though it was difficult to change them round.
The dining experience is not great, even for freshly prepared food - not microwaved. We shared a ham/cheese toasty and Nachos. The toasty was overcooked (almost burnt), dry, mostly tasteless and difficult to bite through. Nachos had barely any cheese and the chips themselves almost tasted stale.
Everything down to a price.
Weak shower with temperature control on a hair trigger.
Toilet mechanism buttons very difficult to flush.
Just 1 drink voucher for 2, but i think that's a HIX norm?

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
20000points for 1 night. More than i was expecting but close to the tunnel and there are few other properties close from any major brand so we'll stay again if it's practical for our journey.
